Hello Crafty friends and welcome to the blog!
Shelly with you today, sharing a scrapbook layout that is the companion page to my last post. While my last post used Dew Drops as a design focal point, today’s easy layout uses Dew Drops to add subtle dimension and highlights to the colors in my layout.
This is a pretty simple design – the punch comes from the angle of layout against the patterned paper and the subtle details of stitching and Dew Drops.
Let’s get started!
Supplies:
- Original Dew Drops
- Mini Dew Drops
- Base – 12×12 American Crafts Textured Black Cardstock
- Pattern Paper – Paper House Productions (trimmed down to 11×11)
- Cardstock Stickers – Paper House Productions
- Title: Stampin Up “Alphabet A La Mode” Dies
- Journing Font: Albertsthal Typewriter
- Photo sizes: (2) photo collage printed on 4×6 and (6) photo collage printed on 4×6 (used 1/2 of (6) photo collage) – photos printed with borders and then matted with black cardstock
- Other: Machine Stitching
- Clear drying liquid glue (I use Best Glue Ever by ScraPerfect)
- Embellie Gellie (to place Dew Drops)
My process:
- Print and mat photo collages – set aside
- Print journaling on card stock (I print journaling on regular printer paper – then stick a piece of cardstock scrap over the top of that journaling and print again, cut out, ink edges – set aside)
- Adhere trimmed patterned paper to black cardstock
- Spend 20 minutes (maybe longer) arranging photos and journaling in different configurations – stand up – look – rearrange – repeat!
I decided on placing layout at an angle against the patterned paper paper – it really made the photos and journaling stand out against that busy background.
Once I had the matted photos glued down, I ran some machine stitching along the length of the paper designs – not across the whole page – just in groups of 3 lines.
After that, I added the title and journaling spot.
Next, cardstock stickers – some popped up with dimensional foam tape.
But, there was still something missing….. DEW DROPS!
Dew Drops just added the perfect dimensional punch this layout needed!
Thanks for stopping by the blog today! Have a creative week!
Shelly
