History of The Robin’s Nest

In 1997 Dana and Robin started a new career path that changed their lives.

Robin opened a scrapbook storefront called “The Robin’s Nest.” She ran the store for several years until she started designing her own paper line. She originally started with only paper in 8.5×11 and 12×12. She also added stickers and cutouts to her paper line as time progressed.

During this time there were many trials; the first buying trip ended with Dana in a head-on collision with all the products for the store opening in the back of the minivan. With several surgeries ahead and months of recovery before he could work again, Robin took the reins of the company and started moving forward.

They purchased their own building three years later with a craft store business inside. The storefront at that time had all crafts, including scrapbooking, cake decorating, art supplies, and custom framing. They added home décor to the store a few years later.

About The Robins Nest owners Rachel OCrowley

The Robin’s Nest then had two divisions, the wholesale company that sold to other individual stores and the storefront that sold to the community where they lived. Over the years, the company developed into an international company, with products being shipped worldwide. Hundreds of stores began to carry The Robin’s Nest products.

The Robin’s Nest was known as the first company to introduce glitter to paper; our first item was a green Christmas tree with gold glitter stars. We were also the first company to introduce dew drops sold in cute bottles to adhere to the scrapbook page.

In 2008 the storefront was closed and the building sold. In 2009, Dana and Robin’s daughter Rachel took the company’s reins, and Dana and Robin went to Africa on a two-year humanitarian mission. Dana and Robin are retired, and Rachel is the owner of The Robin’s Nest. Ours is truly a family-owned and operated business with over two decades of history in the crafting world. Since the introduction of Dew Drops, there have been many copycats, but no one has been able to capture the beauty of these little gems as we do.

Nikki Borden – I’m ‘MadebyMintyCrafts’ on Facebook and Instagram. My family has always been crafters and artists, so it was no surprise when I began doing the same. My grandpa taught me everything to start off and instilled in me a sense of curiosity that has always been at the forefront of my artwork. My mom and her mother were huge crafters too and there wasn’t a week that would go by when they had something up their sleeve such as making the entire neighborhood a giant puppet show stage and having all of us make tons of sock puppets and putting on a grand show for everyone. I was doomed from the start to be an avid crafter my entire life.

Hello my name is Cheryl and I live in Utah. I have loved crafting since I was a little girl and started really crafting in my teenage years. Then in the early 90’s I started scrapbooking and card making came later. Now I love making all things craft related and always love making new, fun things. Currently I love making memorydex cards, cards, treat holders, boxed, bags, and mini albums. I do love lots of layers and embellishing my projects. I also love using the Cricut, die cuts, and paper piecing. Another hobby of mine is quilting and sewing, I love sewing clothes, and making pin cushions, aprons, pillow covers and many other fun items. I am so excited to be part of The Robin’s Nest Creative Design Team and can’t wait to share my work with you all. Thank you and hugs to all!

I am Sadia from Dhaka, Bangladesh. I started off paper crafting as an avid cardmaker to escape reality, and now it turned into my passion. Making cards and embellishing them with handmade flowers, stamping, stenciling, and embellishments is something I adore doing. I enjoy experimenting with different techniques while cardmaking and my styles vary from clean and simple design to mixed media. Other than cardmaking, I love reading, and I never miss a chance to travel to new places. Being a part of The Robin’s Nest Creative is a wonderful experience for me.

Shelly Hein-Simmons: Hello from Sunny Southern California! I share my home with my husband, 3 dogs, 2 Cats and Sheldon the Wonder Turtle. By day I work for an aerospace mfg. company doing sales, customer service and tech support for Aircraft and Airboat propellers. I love being on the water and fishing – I also love sewing, reading, writing and crossword puzzles (and of course, animals). I have been scrapbooking my life and “altering” things since childhood – always gluing pictures and memorabilia into some sort of album and personalizing every item I owned.

Hi! I’m Terri and I’ve been creative all my life. I was never without a colouring book and colouring materials as a child, always loved to write and used to try and make clothes for my dolls. As an adult, I’ve had phases with knitting, crochet and acrylic painting, but when I found cardmaking and papercraft around 4-5 years ago I truly fell in love and found my passion.
