Hello and welcome to The Creative Nest!  Shelly with you today sharing a simple scrapbook layout with big impact and drama thanks to DEW DROPS!

First, a little background on my layout subject – my New Year’s Resolution for 2023 is to visit all 16 museums in Balboa Park (San Diego).  First tour was the Mingei International Museum which is the museum of arts and crafts.  Their current exhibit is Pinatas – and was an amazing display.  The subject of the photos is so vibrant and amazing – I wanted to make sure they were the star of the layout – so I kept things clean!

Scraps of paper, a couple of stickers and Dew Drops – that’s it.  But it still reads “WOW!”

SUPPLY LIST:
  • Dew Drops Original
  • Dew Drops Mini
  • Diamond Dew Drops
  • Base – Bazzill Textured White Cardstock
  • Photo Mats – scraps of black Bazzill Textured Cardstock
  • Paper Scraps (I am using scraps from Paper House Productions)
  • Stickers (Paper House Productions
  • Ranger Black Archival Ink
TOOLS:
  • ScraPerfect Best Glue Ever (I really prefer a clear drying LIQUID glue to use with Dew Drops)
  • ScraPerfect Embellie Gellie to adhere Dew Drops
  • Paper Cutter
  • Printer for journaling (my font is Albertsthal Typewriter)
  • Collage photo App (I used Epson Creative Print – but there are so many free ones out there!)

MAKE IT:

In this layout, I was able to get 11 photos on one 12 x 12 sheet while still having a clean design.

I used (3) photo collages to create this layout – (2) bordered 6 picture collages printed in 4×6 photo size (I only used 1/2 of one of the collages) and then (1) 4×6 collage with (2) photos – – I trimmed one of the photos (Day of the Dead Pinata) down to fit my design.

All photos matted with black cardstock

Next, I started adding my Dew Drops!

The Dew Drops create the illusion of the pinata being burst open with treats falling out, or maybe the streamers that hang from the pinata – the interpretation is up to the viewer (like all art)

My final touch was the journaling.

Thank you for stopping by the blog today – I look forward to sharing my museum adventures with this year!

Shelly
