Hello friends, welcome!

Today I’d like to share a little mixed media piece with you.

This could be a wall hanging, or simple sit on the shelf/table.

First I found this little wooden wall hanging tray thing at Michaels. I bought a few and stashed them for later.

It had a saw tooth hanger and some twine stapled to the back for hanging but the orientation was wrong for this project, so I took them off, filled the hole, and sanded. Then I painted the outside white.

First thing to do- prep the canvas. I used clear gesso.

(I cut the canvas down to fit inside the tray.)

Once it’s dry, paint away! I used watered down acrylics for the background, and full strength acrylic paint for the sunshine.

Once it was painted to my liking and dry, I went over the lines with a paint pen.

Now for the Dew Drops! Woot! I used orange in the center of the sun.

For the word shine, I used dies from Bruut Monroe. I cut multiples and stacked them up o make the die cut thick and sturdy.

Supplies:

  • Canvas from The Robin’s Nest
  • Dew Drops
  • Acrylic paints
  • Tray or other surface to adhere canvas to
  • Matte medium to glue canvas down
  • Clear gesso
  • Dies and car stock
  • Glue (I use Bearly Art Glue)
  • Paint brush, scissors, water, heat tool for drying
