Cake Canvas Art Card

SUPPLIES:
Cake (Art Canvas) – Robin’s Nest
Dew Drops – Robin’s Nest
Alcohol Inks + Dauber: (Butterscotch, Terra Cotta and Raisin) -Ranger Ink
Metallic Paint Palette – US Art Quest
Blue alcohol marker (TB5) – Spectrum Noir
2″ chipboard number – Maya Road
Ruler Ribbon – Offray
Rub-on Sentiment – Scenic Route
Misc: red heart brads, pale yellow cardstock and red cardstock, adhesives and tools.

1. Trim the Cake Canvas to card size. Mine are approximately 4.45 x 6.5. Not a standard card size.

2. Apply butterscotch alcohol ink to the dauber and pounce around the top of the cake/candle area, spreading out and up.

3. Add terracotta alcohol ink to the same dauber above, but next to the butterscotch and continue to pounce the background.  Pounce over and in between previous strokes to blend.

4. Apply the raisin alcohol ink to the  other end of the dauber, near the terra cotta. Turn the dauber around to begin the dark color raisin near the outer edges, flip the dauber around and pounce with all three, but keeping the dark raisin close to the top of the canvas.

5. Using the blue alcohol ink pen, color the candles.

6. Add a small amount of water to the gold metallic paint and paint the background from below the “glow” of the candles – down.

7. As you lower, add some copper metallic.  Try to softly blend the copper into the gold. Come back and add more gold on top of the copper if necessary.  Be gentle, not to smudge the canvas.

8. If there are puddles, use a dry clean cloth to DAB, do not wipe.

9. Add a small amount of water to the metallic paint palette (green) and paint the frosting on top of the cake.

10. Clean your brush and add water to the blue metallic paint then paint the cake.

11. Clean your brush and come back with the green metallic and paint the swirly lines down the cake.

12. Pounce the chipboard number with raisin alcohol ink.

13. Let dry for a few minutes, gently heat setting possible.

14. Cut the ruler ribbon so the number of your chipboard is in the center.  For #3 the ribbon was cut at 0 (zero) and 6 (six). For the #4 the ribbon was cut at 1 (one) and 7 (seven). Adhere the ribbon along the horizontal line drawn on the original canvas. The number corresponding to your chipboard # should be in the center. Fold the edges of the ribbon to the back, and adhere.

15. Cut the light yellow paper to create a matte for the canvas art. Glue the canvas to the yellow cardstock and also attach at the corners with the red heart brads.

16. Fold an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of red cardstock in half, position your matted art canvas to have an even border on all sides, TRIM TO SIZE then glue the matted art canvas to the red cardstock folded card base.

17. Pick a sentiment and rub it on.
