Eid is approaching…. So it’s time to make some very special cards to greet friends and family!!! Today I’m gonna share an Eid greeting card, made using shadow stenciling technique. I’d use Dark Vanilla Dew Drops and Burnt Umber Diamond Dew Drops as embellishments.

Here’s what I’ve used to make it!!!

  1. A 8″ x 13″ Craft color card stock for card base, folded into half to make the entire card of 8″ x 6.5″ dimension
  2. Ivory textured card stock for front panel having dimension 7.5″ x 6″
  3. 2 pieces of 5″ x 5″ Black papers for corner strips
  4. Eid Mubarak die set
  5. Ramadan lantern stencil
  6. Dark Vanilla Dew Drops
  7. Burnt Umber Diamond Dew Drops
  8. Liquid adhesive
  9. A die cutting machine
  10. Scissors
  11. Ink pads (black, shimmery copper, light grey, peach)
  12. Finger dauber or blending brush

Looking into the steps I’ve followed…

  • I’ve started the process with piecing paper for card base, front panel and corner borders in mentioned sizes.
  • To prepare the background on front panel, I used my Ramadan lantern stencil in 4 phases. At first I stenciled the ivory textured card stock using shimmery copper ink. Then in 2nd phase I applied black ink through the same stencil, changing its position and height. I repeated the same process 2 more times using  and light grey and peach inks to create the shadow effect.
  • At this point I’ve cut out Eid Mubarak sentiment from Black and Craft color card stock and layered them with a little offset for adding shadow effect. I glued down the sentiment at the bottom right corner.
  • I then glued the black papers to create corner borders.
  • After the front panel of my card is prepared, I attached it on the card base securing a 0.25″ border around it.
  • And finally I’ve embellished the card with Dark Vanilla Dew Drops and Burnt Umber Diamond Dew Drops. I chose to place them according to the lanterns’ designs and hanging threads.

That’s kind of it about today’s project! Have a Blessed Ramadan and Blissful Eid!!!

With Love…

Rumana Amin.
