Hello and welcome to The Robins Nest Creative. Shelly with you today sharing how I create and use a low cost planner and idea journal for the New Year.
I have tried all manner of expensive planners with fancy goal setting and by the hour to do lists – but find myself always returning to simple composition book – I print off a monthly calendar page from the internet (Calendars That Work is my fave!)
I tape that monthly calendar in my book, then I have a gazillion blank pages to write goals, inspiration, to-do lists, grocery lists (that I can just tear out of the book guilt-free! and even sketch ideas for my creative projects. A blank book just works for me!
SUPPLIES:
- Blooming Tree Creative Canvas
- Original Dew Drops
- Mini Dew Drops
- Tear Dew Drops
- Watercolors
- Sharpie Markers
- Composition Book (.97 cents at WalMart!)
- Clear Drying Adhesive (I am using Best Glue Ever from ScraPerfect)
The shape of this Blooming Tree Canvas was giving me Mid-Century Modern vibes, so I decided to go with a Mid-Century Modern color palette.
MAKE IT:
I began by using watercolors to color my canvas. I found this great travel watercolor palette that includes water barrel brushes (Chroma Blends Travel Watercolor Palette by Ooly) Perfect when I want to craft on the go in our travel trailer.
The Creative Canvas takes watercolors beautifully!
Next, I used Sharpie Markers in the same colors to dots for dimension
Now it’s time to add the SPARKLE with Dew Drops!
Design Tip: I find the best way to attach Dew Drops is with a clear drying liquid glue and Embellie Gellie (which makes it very easy to pick up and lay down the Dew Drops with precision)
FINISHING TOUCHES:
I stamped the year on my canvas and machine stitched around the edge before gluing my canvas to the composition book.
Thanks for stopping by today – have a creative week!
