Wow, can you believe it’s April already! For today’s project, I thought I would show you a cute way to incorporate a creative canvas and Dew Drops onto a on trend birthday card. So here are the ingredients I used to get you started.
Ingredients:
8 1/2 x 11 cardstock – I chose craft paper color
Decorative paper and embellishments
Stamp for sentiment
Ink for stamping and clear fine embossing powder
Dew Drops – Jade Diamond Dew Drops and Safari Mini Dew Drops
Creative Canvas Artsy Dew Dinos
Sharpie ultra fine tip markers in light and dark green
Adhesive
Instructions:
I chose the dino canvas for today’s card. I love the 4 dinos and thought they would look fabulous colored and on a card. This would also make a super fun wall hanging for a young man’s room.
For coloring, I chose Sharpie markers (permanent) in a light and dark green fine tip. To color evenly, I used small circular motions, which helps blend and eliminate lines.
Here’s how the look when just finished. As I move forward and merge the layers I will do a few touch ups, so keep those pens handy.
Next, I cut the images from the extra canvas using a paper trimmer. Here’s a place for your fabric scissors if you prefer!
Next, using small scissors I cut around the outlines of the “backs” and “tails” of the dinosaurs.
Next, I created my card base. I wanted a longer style card so the measurements, I used are in the photo. Fold your card in half, setting the fold.
I added a “bamboo” background from some older paper that I had in my stash. You could easily stamp and color a background or just go with the card stock as a background as well.
I adhered the two rows of dinosaurs, off set to one another on the front of the card. Once adhered, I colored in some of the other white areas to merge the two rows as one.
Add Dew drops for your border. I used diamonds in groups of three to simulate a fern or plant and mini dew drops as stones or additional plants (not really sure which). I used liquid adhesive, which I find really adheres the dew drops well!
Here’s a little close up of that border. It can be as wild and free as you like!
Hope you enjoyed this project and I’ll be back on the 17th with another Dew Drops project for you!
Artistically yours,
~ Victoria
