Happy Saturday!  Today I want to share with you an art journal page idea, using dew drops.  I love the vintage, shabby grungy look, but dew drops can fit into all crafting styles from the most clean and simple to the most elaborate layering!  So grab a cup of coffee or tea, your art journal and join in.  Do your style and show us over on our Facebook Page.

Supplies:

Mixed media art journal
White Gesso
Vintage book pages and calendar pages
Chip board
White dimensional paste
Stencils
Mists – Shimmerz Sprayz
Chalk ink – Prima pink and green
Paper doll – Tim Holtz
Dew Drops – diamond and round
Distress Crayon – Tim Holtz

Begin playing!  First applying paper to your page as you like, the add Gesso over the pages.
This “knocks back” the lettering if you have something bold – like the calendar page, in my case.

Dry thoroughly and let the fun begin!  Next I added the chipboard doors….  And added gesso over them.  At this point this could go lots of ways; elegant, shabby chic, grungy, vintage, etc.

I had fun spraying with blued, purples and ultra violet.
When you have gesso down, you can tilt and move the colors around until they are mixed as you like.  There is no right or wrong in you are journal.  Just experimentation and capturing your mood.

Next I added dimensional paste and stenciling.

Let everything dry and then embellish as you like, you can always stop at any time and lay it aside if it feels it needs more or is overworked.
I added the rub ons and paper dolls at this step.  I had this planned out for other embellishments as you might guess from the hand position.  It needs a door knob!
I added an original round dew drop for the door knob, a smaller round to accent the heart on the door and then the diamonds to accent the words, all using liquid adhesive.  Finally I added some shadows using a distress crayon.
So how can you win?!?  I am putting together a art journaling kit.  Lots of ephemera and other good stuff including some dew drops!  I will post the kit on our Facebook page and you will have two weeks to show me your art journal pages with dew drops (all entries in by 7/3/2020 at 11:59 PM Pacific).  I will announce the winner on my 4th of July blog post.  Once you have sent me your address the kit will be yours!
Let’s brighten up this time with ART!
